The Board of Regents approved the revised &²Ô²ú²õ±è;Compensation policy for Memorial University at its meeting on June 24, 2026. This policy, which applies to non-bargaining, management and professional, and leadership group employees, came into effect on July 1.
The updates strengthen clarity, consistency, accountability and fiscal responsibility in compensation administration at Memorial.
Key updates include:
- The clarification of the definition of existing rates and the addition of a new existing rates policy section. Related updates to salary adjustments provisions were also made.
- The inclusion of temporary appointments. The definition distinguishes between temporary appointments and other employment arrangements.
- A new provision for temporary vacancy coverage. This provision enables units to request HR approval to temporarily distribute duties of a vacant position between two employees. This provision applies only in exceptional circumstances that require immediate operational coverage.
- Increased unit accountability for supervisory differentials.
- Consolidation of the former On-Call policy into the Compensation policy and the changing of the former Student Employment policy to Student Employment Guidelines.
The Compensation policy updates were informed by operational experience and feedback.
